You can use LessMeeting to improve productivity of meetings. It also helps cut down the amount of time workers spend in meetings. LessMeeting estimates that billions of meetings take place in the United States alone every year and that most of them could be both shorter and more efficient. You can use LessMeeting to improve note-taking in meetings, sync agendas among team members and link the results to previous and future meetings. You can also measure the amount of time the meeting takes to cover individual topics to help shorten the overall meeting.
LessMeeting was founded in 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2011, it was mentioned by MicroSoft BizSpark as a Startup of the Day. It also ran an interview with LessMeeting Chief Operating Officer Brett Cooper, who founded the company along with Blake Brynes, Jeff Steinke and Rick Makerson. LifeHacker, the popular site focused on efficiency, also mentioned LessMeeting when it asked readers to rate five popular applications meant to improve meetings. LessMeeting rated third. No specific reasons were given for the rating.
LessMeeting allows users to link results of various meetings. This can help measure progress, as well as the efficiency of past meetings. It also allows meeting participants to resume discussing a topic at the point they had left it in the last meeting. Meeting attendance, decisions and actions can all also be linked with LessMeeting.
LessMeeting is fairly crowded visually. Plenty of text in most screens of the app can leave the first-time user slightly confused. Part of it, however, can be organized from Microsoft Outlook or Google APPs. This will make the calendar features of the app familiar to users of those systems. Much of LessMeeting is accessed through a series of tabs that can be a bit hard to figure out at first. After half an hour of playing with the controls, though, it becomes easier.
To register, simply click the Register link at the top right hand corner of the app's main page. This takes you to a form to fill in your company details, e-mail address, time zone, and a password. The app is meant exclusively for companies and it charges a rate per user. Each user must have a different profile within the app.
LessMeeting charges companies per user. In other words, the more users a company has, the less it pays per user. The per user fee is $12 a month for companies with few than 10 users. The fee falls to $10 a month per user for companies with 10 to 99 users. Companies with 100 or more users pay $8 a month for each user. Companies are also offered their first month free. Non-profit organization may also receive special deals.
The app is recommended for medium to large companies. The functions that allow attendance records, remind meeting participants of past meeting results, and link to past series of meetings are of greater benefit to larger companies. Companies with fewer than 10 employees registered with the app have to pay a higher rate and will find some of the organizational functions, such as attendance records, less useful.
